SIPA worked with Tron Energy to support its international efforts from four perspectives: international exposure, partner matchmaking, business connections, and investment assessment—helping the company establish global partnerships, pursue business opportunities, and assess overseas investments for setting up a company in Indonesia. Based on the investment assessment in Indonesia, Tron Energy established the joint venture, WINTRONE in 2023. WINTRONE primarily manufactures 8-meter and 12-meter electric buses and plans to implement a remote battery monitoring system and a fleet management system to enhance operational reliability. These two smart digital management systems are also among the key factors contributing to Tron Energy’s competitive edge in the overseas electric bus market. In 2024, Tron Energy successfully exported electric bus chassis, fleet management systems, and energy management systems to Indonesia in collaboration with WINTRONE.
With ongoing support through international marketing exposure, Tron Energy has continued to expand into the Malaysian market and established a branch, Tron Bradbury Energy (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (TBE). On January 19, 2024, Tron Bradbury Energy (Malaysia) signed an MoU with Bradbury Asset Management to convert its assembly plant in the Port Klang Free Zone into a dedicated electric bus manufacturing facility. On the same day, Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, stated that the government has designated electric vehicles (EVs) as a key development priority, providing further momentum for the country’s EV industry.
In terms of business development, Tron Energy continued its collaboration with S.F.S.B in Malaysia. in 2024 on electric bus projects. The company also integrates its self-developed battery management system and fleet management system into the electric buses. Through these smart monitoring and management systems, the real-time status of vehicles, batteries, and other key components can be tracked, thereby enhancing the added value of the electric buses.
In the future, Tron Energy and S.F.S.B in Malaysia. will adopt a collaboration model similar to the one used in Indonesia. Under this arrangement, Tron Energy will manufacture electric bus chassis in Taiwan and export them to Malaysia, where Tron Bradbury Energy (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (TBE) will assemble the bus bodies locally before delivering the finished vehicles to S.F.S.B. for sale.
Electric buses have been identified as a key priority in Indonesia’s industrial development. The country is expected to see demand for electric buses in the future, with major public transport operators such as TransJakarta and BlueBird planning to replace their existing diesel fleets with electric ones. Furthermore, the Indonesian government has designated electric autonomous buses as a core component of the infrastructure for its new capital city, Nusantara. According to current assessments, TransJakarta alone is expected to require approximately 200 electric buses, while bus operations in the Nusantara area may be managed by BlueBird. Regardless of whether the operation model involves direct purchase, public-private partnerships (PPP), or mileage-based leasing, these developments represent significant opportunities for Taiwanese companies. Moreover, Taiwanese companies excel in ICT and system integration. Tron Energy, for example, integrates fleet management, battery management, and autonomous driving interface—showcasing how smart system adds value to electric buses. Smart city solutions are also a key focus of Indonesia’s future development. Building on the existing foundation, the project seeks to explore further cooperation with Indonesian counterparts in applying smart solutions. Such collaboration will not only deepen bilateral relations but also promote the export of Taiwan’s integrated smart system solutions to Indonesia.
