AI-Driven Smart Cities and Global Opportunities: 2026 World System Integrator Conference Attracting 200 International Industry Representatives
The “2026 World System Integrator Conference” (WSIC) officially took place today (18th) at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 2, bringing together industry representatives from Europe, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and beyond. Nearly 200 participants from government, industry, and academia attended the event, creating a vibrant atmosphere for exchange and collaboration. Betty Hu, Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Digital Affairs (moda), was also present, leading Taiwanese digital enterprises in engaging with international counterparts through forums, business matchmaking, and partnership discussions to explore emerging global opportunities in AI and smart cities.
This year’s WSIC was themed “AI-Driven Smart Cities and Global Opportunities,” focusing on the application of artificial intelligence in urban governance, public services, and industrial upgrading. The event invited representatives from major international organizations, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Indonesia ICT Association (APTIKNAS), Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), Digital Economy Promotion Agency of Thailand (depa), Malaysia IoT Association (MyIoTA), and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). These organizations shared insights on market demand and industry opportunities in AI and smart city development, while engaging in in-depth dialogue with Taiwanese enterprises to foster cross-border collaboration.
Chief Secretary Betty Hu noted that AI is rapidly transforming global urban governance and industrial development, with smart cities becoming a key direction for digital transformation worldwide. As an important international platform for the system integration industry, WSIC enables Taiwanese companies to directly engage with global partners. This year, the conference also invited Canadian experts to share their experiences in AI and smart city applications, further facilitating the alignment of innovative solutions with international market needs.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs has long supported Taiwanese enterprises in expanding into overseas markets by connecting upstream and downstream industry players, forming export-oriented teams, and linking them with foreign governments and industry partners. This year’s WSIC highlights these efforts through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony witnessed by Chief Secretary Hu. Taiwanese companies—including YC Holdings Inc., Optiqb, International Integrated Systems, Inc. (IIS), 3Egreen Technology, and Intumit Inc.—signed six MOUs with partners from Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, and Eswatini. The collaborations cover areas such as carbon inventory and reduction platforms, AI 3D solutions, 5G smart city applications, and smart energy-saving systems, demonstrating the successful expansion of Taiwan’s digital solutions into global markets.
The Ministry stated that it will continue to leverage platforms like WSIC to connect the global system integration ecosystem, support Taiwanese digital solutions in entering international markets, and promote further collaboration in smart city and AI applications, thereby enhancing Taiwan’s global visibility and competitiveness in digital technology.
In addition, a pre-event business matchmaking session was held, facilitating one-on-one meetings between 10 Taiwanese companies and international enterprises to explore potential partnerships and unlock future collaboration opportunities.
