The 2025 Taiwan-Indonesia Industrial Collaboration Summit: Smart City Sub-Forum, organized by Administration for Digital Industries (ADI), Ministry of Digital Affairs, was held on July 8 in Batam, Indonesia. The forum, themed on smart cities and digital technology applications, invited 24 representatives from Taiwan and Indonesia, including companies, industry associations, and related professionals. The forum facilitated exchanges and cooperation between the two countries’ smart city industries through discussions, case studies, and one-on-one matchmaking, thereby helping Taiwanese companies gain insights into the Indonesian market and explore future cooperation opportunities.

The forum focused on four application areas: smart agriculture, smart energy, smart manufacturing, and smart transportation. Industry representatives from Taiwan and Indonesia were invited to engage in in-depth discussions on smart city applications in practice, current technological developments, and future trends across different areas. In addition, matchmaking sessions were arranged to enable participating Taiwanese companies, including CUB ELECPARTS, ABONMAX, AIDC, DataYoo, Wave-In, CoCoTree Technology, etc., to respectively present their technologies and practical applications in smart agriculture, energy management, intelligent manufacturing, smart transportation, etc. The matchmaking sessions fostered industry interaction between Taiwan and Indonesia, led to 13 follow-up discussions on future models of collaboration, and created opportunities for collaboration.

The forum attracted over 30 Indonesian companies and organizations, many of them leading players in smart city and digital technology. Take Tata Sarana Mandiri and Lavia Solusi Teknologi as examples. Tata Sarana Mandiri, a top Indonesian industrial automation solutions provider and system integrator, specializes in mobile solutions, IoT applications, and innovative hardware and software products, actively driving local digital transformation. Lavia Solusi Teknologi, a consultancy specializing in supporting digital transformation for governments and companies, offers services such as digital strategy planning, company management, information system integration, etc., to enhance operational efficiency and face the challenges of the digital era. Other participants, such as Meta Forsa Gratia, further strengthened Taiwan-Indonesia exchanges and collaboration in the smart city related industries.

Furthermore, the ADI facilitated several partnerships between Taiwan and Indonesia. During the forum, Pegatron and Alita Praya Mitra, as well as DataYoo and Blessed Bentara Agri Indonesia, respectively, signed a memorandum of understanding. The content covers communications infrastructure development, satellite imagery services, etc., highlighting the complementary strengths of Taiwan and Indonesia in smart technology applications and laying a foundation for further collaboration in the digital industry.

Taiwanese company representatives highlighted that the forum not only facilitated initial connections with Indonesian partners but also provided valuable insights into local industry trends and potential needs. Some companies leveraged the matchmaking and exchanges sessions to further discuss collaboration details and plan follow-up visits to pursue more concrete opportunities for cooperation.
